The sun dips low, partially veiled by hilltops and heavy clouds. A sleepy lagoon, scattered with shallow ponds, slowly dissolves into the mist. From somewhere in the distance, the haunting sound of bagpipes echoes across the landscape.
It was during the annual Celtic music festival in Ortigueira, Galicia, that I fell in love with this view—beer in hand, standing on one of the old, abandoned jetties.
If I had to name one thing I love most about Galicia, it would be its vast, breathtaking nature. It's a place where solitude comes easily—no tourist crowds, no noise. The land stretches so wide, there’s space for everyone to find a quiet spot to sit alone in peace, to reflect, or to walk the beach without weaving through others. With its frequent rains and wild, cold ocean, this region seems to draw only a few poetic souls in search of calm.
I share this piece with my dear friend and talented musician Rudolf Schneedörfler, who composed the music for it and perfectly captured the stillness I hoped to evoke.
