There is something encouraging about just sitting down and sketching ideas without thinking about all the technicalities behind them. Just one or two simple, blocky brushes and the image in your head that you want to get down on paper or screen as soon as possible.
After many years of creating complex images in 3D without spending much time drawing, I was surprised by how addictive that experience can be.
